Subject: Digital Photography - The Self PortraitThe workshop approaches the question of the self portrait in Photography, considering above all the use of digital methods. It includes a brief presentation about its cultural presence, analysis of its foundations and the strategies involved in the building of the image, illustrated with a series of examples. It includes a self representation exercise for the participants.
BiographyBorn in Sao Paulo, Carlos Fadon is a graduate of Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic School (1968), a graduate of Plastic Arts from the school of communication and arts (1982) of the University of Sao Paulo and has a Master of Arts and technology obtained in the school of the Art Institute of Chicago (1989). He works within the sphere of digital images and photography, with additional studies in telecommunications.
The condition photography as a means of elaborating realities, as well as photographic essays of the urban landscape, have been the main preoccupation of Fadon since the start of his photography, in 1975. In 1987 he began a series of interactive experiments, with the aid of telecommunication resources, centred on the subject of intercultural dialogues. From this moment onwards the investigation became systematically enlarged, with the development of hypermedia pieces and especially with the exploration and enhancement of the human being-machine collaboration. He lives in Sao Paulo. His Productions are presented internationally in individual expositions, public and private collections, events, collections of samples, conferences and different publications, complemented by educational activities.
